This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on jackparker.co.uk, and how you can control them.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Some are needed for a site to work. Others, like analytics cookies, are optional and are only set with your permission.
Analytics cookies (optional)
If you click Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics is loaded so I can see which guides are useful and how people find them. It sets:
_ga– distinguishes one visitor from another. Expires after 2 years._ga_P1GD9SP9B6– keeps track of your visit. Expires after 2 years.
If you click Decline, or don't make a choice, Google Analytics isn't loaded and these cookies are never set.
Strictly necessary cookies
astro-session– only set when someone signs in to the site's admin area. It isn't set for visitors.- Cloudflare, which hosts and protects this site, may set security cookies such as
__cf_bmto filter out bot traffic. These are needed to keep the site running and don't track you across other websites.
Other storage
- Your cookie choice is saved in your browser's local storage (
jp-cookie-consent) so the banner doesn't ask again on every page. It isn't a cookie and isn't sent anywhere. - The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check you're not a bot, without using tracking cookies.
Changing your mind
Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page to change your choice at any time. Choosing Decline also removes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.
Contact form and comments
If you send a message through the contact form, your name, email address, phone number (if given) and message are emailed to me so I can reply. They aren't stored on the website.
If you leave a comment on a post, your name, email address and comment are stored so the comment can be moderated and shown. Your email address is never published.
To ask about or remove any information you've sent me, email hello@jackparker.co.uk.
